Be my valentine

You might want to be careful and make sure you understand what the speaker means.  “Valentine” can indicate something other than what you are expecting.

  • be a martyr (be willing to suffer persecution, even death) as a witness to Jesus
  • review recent history (St. Valentine’s Day “massacre” in Chicago)
  • go on a ‘date’ with someone on February 14
  • send a greeting card to someone special
  • be someone’s girl friend or boy friend until next year
  • become someone’s ’sweetheart’
  • use as a warning system to protect against car thieves (No kidding, see Valentine One)
  • share a box of expensive chocolates or valentine candy

Wow!  So many possibilities!  Isn’t the English language confusing sometimes?  About one thing, however, one need not be confused or experience misunderstanding:

“The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.”  (Old Testament of the Bible, Zephaniah 3:17)

Now that is WOW!  Are you believing it and living within the delight of the living God?
